First Steps In Building An Affiliate Audience

One of the main reasons that new affiliates struggle to make sales as an affiliate is because they do not have a targeted audience.

A targeted audience for affiliate marketing depends on what you want to promote. You could be an affiliate for “ham sandwiches” in whch case your audience needs to consist of people who like ham sandwiches and who buy ham sandwiches. Can you tell I am sitting here eating a ham (& egg) sandwich??? lol

If, like myself, you plan to promote various tools that are useful for affiliates then your target audience is “people who are interested in affiliate tools”. That could be free tools or paid ones……

When you have identified your target audience you can start thinking about where people with those interests can be found. Supermarkets and sandwich shops jump to my mind for the ham sandwich affiliate (Am still hungry lol)….. now where would I find people interested in affiliate tools???

There are many different places such as:

Affiliate forums & groups

Affiliate blogs

You Tube

Clickbank & Warrior Plus

Marketers email lists

Your job as a new affiliate is to get yourself into the places where affiliates hang out. Join in with the conversations, do some research, contribute to discussions etc etc. DO NOT under any circumstances….. just start sharing an affiliate link. It is like the kiss of death.

What you should do instead is to aim for gathering information from these sources. What are affiliates talking about? (Trust me a big topic is around building an audience). What questions are they asking? (How do I build an audience of buyers?) That is the kind of information that is extremely useful for you. Spending time doing this kind of research is what will give you a huge advantage over others who don’t do it.

Why?

It basically provides you with an opportunity to build an extremely targeted and motivated audience.

For example, would someone who is asking how to build an audience maybe read a blog post called “First Steps In Building An Affiliate Audience”?

Fact is, this blog is working for me already, just a few days after creating it. It works by bringing people here to read my posts when they search for information online. This is why my own first step in building an affiliate audience was to create this blog and start writing blog posts.

Blogs are one of the best ways to build an affiliate audience and I HIGHLY recommend that you think about creating one if you wish to work as an affiliate.
